Alexander Konyukhov, General Director of JSC Power Machines, spoke about the production status of domestic medium- and high-capacity gas turbines as a part of the session “Power Engineering: Status of Establishment of Gas Turbine Production in the Territory of the Russian Federation”. The event took place on October 13, 2021 at the Russian Energy Week international forum.
The session was attended by the heads of relevant ministries; power machine building, engineering, and generating companies, including Evgeny Grabchak, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation; Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of the National Research University Moscow Power Engineering Institute; Mikhail Lifshitz, Chairman of the JSC ROTEC Board of Directors; and Vladimir Mikhailov, General Director of JSC NPO CKTI.
With support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Power Machines are working on creating two types of completely domestic gas turbines - GTE-170 E-class and GTE-65 F-class. Simultaneously, the company is working on developing power turbines operating on a methane-hydrogen mixture, which significantly reduces CO2 emissions.
The main goal of the project is to revive the “national school” in the field of design and production of medium- and high-capacity gas turbines. The successful implementation of the project will ensure technological self-sufficiency for the Russian Federation due to the comprehensive development in the production for this type of equipment in the country, including the components of hot gas paths and control systems using domestic hardware components, which will eliminate dependence on imported services.
